چکیده
We proposed an approach to construct a 2D Fresnel lenses by acoustic network. This lens iscomposed of an array of Helmholtz resonators. The resonance at individual resonators results ineffective focusing even the plate has subwavelength thickness. The FEM simulation resultspresented the ultrasonic wave propagation through the lenses together with the resultingdiffraction pattern.INTRODUCTIONThe Fresnel lens was first proposed as viable alternatives to conventional spherical lenses foroptical focusing and has been widelystudied. Planar focusing lens for acoustic wave wasdesigned according to the Fresnel zone plate theory.Since the lens has simple configuration; itcan be fabricated with easy and inexpensive technique. However, the efficiency of Fresnel lensesreported so far is low.In this section, we numerically investigated the planar acoustic Fresnel lens composed of a1D array of Helmholtz resonators using FE method. The Helmholtz resonators are filled withdifferent medium, dividing plate into 29 Fresnel zones. The acoustic wave fields at differentfrequencies are compared from the simulation results.

Optimization of an Acoustic Leaky-wave An- Tenna Based on Acoustic Metamaterial
In recent years, an increasing number of pioneering studies have been carried out in the field of acoustic metamaterials, following the path of electromagnetic metamaterials. These artificial engineered materials are designed in such a way so as to achieve new macroscopic properties , like negative refraction, that are not readily present in nature. While the design and the fabrication of these...
متن کاملTailoring Acoustic Metamaterials to Aeroacoustic Applications
The advent of metamaterials in acoustics is shaking-up the research community. The theoretical models and the realization technologies developed during the last decade have suddenly made possible applications that were barely conceivable before. Acoustic invisibility, perfect acoustic mirrors and lenses or ideal wave guides are now realizable with devices exploiting the potential of acoustic me...
متن کاملNon-reciprocal and highly nonlinear active acoustic metamaterials.
Unidirectional devices that pass acoustic energy in only one direction have numerous applications and, consequently, have recently received significant attention. However, for most practical applications that require unidirectionality at audio and low frequencies, subwavelength implementations capable of the necessary time-reversal symmetry breaking remain elusive. Here we describe a design app...
متن کاملA Systematic Approach to Photonic Crystal Based Metamaterial Design
Photonic crystal design procedure for negative refraction has so far been based on trial and error. In this paper, for the first time, a novel and systematic design procedure based on physical and mathematical properties of photonic crystals is proposed to design crystal equi-frequency contours (EFCs) to produce negative refraction. The EFC design is performed by the help of rectangular stair-c...

This paper suggests the adaptive quasi static Ritz vector (AQSRV)-based model reduction scheme of applying an error indicator for efficient numerical simulation of the acoustic metamaterial systems with the characteristics of broadband, inhomogeneous, and anisotropic. In contrast to a conventional mode displacement method (MDM)-based model reduction scheme, the proposed method has characteristi...
متن کاملSound Pressure Level Gain in an Acoustic Metamaterial Cavity
The inherent attenuation of a homogeneous viscous medium limits radiation propagation, thereby restricting the use of many high-frequency acoustic devices to only short-range applications. Here, we design and experimentally demonstrate an acoustic metamaterial localization cavity which is used for sound pressure level (SPL) gain using double coiled up space like structures thereby increasing th...
